Mary Jo Elder, PharmD

PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Resident

Biography

Hometown: Madison, WI

Pharmacy School: Drake University

Why did you choose Michigan's residency program? I am interested in practicing in the ambulatory care and outpatient settings. The community program here at Michigan allows me to spend time in multiple outpatient clinic areas as well as in the outpatient pharmacy. I also get to see a variety of patients and care directly for them.

Advice on how to prepare for Michigan winters: Wool socks. Having lived in the Midwest for most of my life and having cold winters, I have found a good couple of pairs of wool socks to keep your feet warm a worthwhile investment!

Favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor: Zingerman's Deli; basically heaven for various deli meats and cheeses.

Favorite part about doing a residency at Michigan Medicine: While I may be the only community resident, I am enjoying having a large residency class who supports one another. It’s great to have people around you who are going through the same challenging year and are able to provide the support system you will need this year.
