The Richard Tam Foundation

A research catalyst

Judith Tam, President of the Richard Tam Foundation

The Richard Tam Foundation has continued its commitment to the bipolar disorder research at the U-M by making a recent donation of $950,000.00.

Since 2014, the Richard Tam Foundation has donated more than $3 million to our research here at the University of Michigan.

Melvin McInnis, Scientific Director of the Prechter Bipolar Research Program, expressed that, “We are honored by the renewed commitment of the Tam Foundation which will allow researchers to advance and deepen their understanding of the underpinnings of bipolar disorder. We have several promising avenues of study and this gift will help our researchers continue their efforts to turn scientific advances in the laboratory into new, more effective treatments for this cruel disease.”

Judith Tam, President of the Richard Tam Foundation has said:

“We are grateful to be able to provide part of the funding that is crucially needed by the U-M bipolar research team for the continuation and expansion of their efforts. I know that their research is only limited by the funding that is available to them and that more funding will accelerate the pace of new and meaningful discoveries which can improve the lives of those who suffer from this serious disorder. It is my hope that our gift can help lead to advances which will make a difference to millions around the world.”
