A2CT presents "Next to Normal" - 02/02/14 collaboration with the Prechter Fund

The Ann Arbor Civic Theatre (A2CT) is showing "Next to Normal" from January 30 - February 2, 2014. "Next to Normal" is a Tony award-winning musical about a middle-class family, the Goodmans, as they cope with mental illness, loss, grief, and family relations. Almost entirely sung, the musical features searing ballads and rock anthems that evoke the emotional tumult experienced by each of the Goodmans as they attempt to cope with mother Diane’s bipolar disorder. The New York Times says “it’s something much more than a feel good musical -- it’s a feel everything musical.” Next to Normal contains mature language and adult situations.

Immediately following the Sunday, 02/02/14, matinee of "Next to Normal," staff members from the Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Fund at U-M's Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg and Family Depression Center and NAMI (National Association of Mental Illness), along with the play's director and cast, will conduct a discussion and Q&A in the Arthur Miller Theatre. Please join us for this special session, where you can get your questions answered regarding mental illness and bipolar disorder, how if affects families, different treatment options and where research is headed in this field. This post-show discussion is free and open to the public.
