Join the Prechter Program’s CrowdRise Campaign and help us combat bipolar disorder

May 2017 is National Mental Health Month – help us raise funds for our research projects

THE NEED:

Bipolar disorder is a devastating, chronic mental illness with recurring episodes of mania (highs) and depression (lows). Bipolar disorder causes unusual and dramatic shifts in mood, energy and behavior.

The turmoil of bipolar disorder is often devastating to careers and personal relationships. 30% of individuals with bipolar disorder will attempt suicide during their lives, and 20% will die by suicide. However, the suicide rate goes down dramatically with adequate treatment.

Although the direct cause of bipolar disorder is unclear, it has long been understood that genetic, biochemical and environmental factors play a role. We know that bipolar disorder runs in families, tends to recur throughout the life span and is affected by genes and life experiences.

The Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Program is creating new hope for those who suffer from this devastating illness. The Prechter Program is a premier research entity focused on personalizing treatment of bipolar disorder to prevent recurrences and to enable those living with bipolar disorder to lead healthy and productive lives.

THE CROWDRISE CAMPAIGN:

We all know someone who has been affected by mental illness, whether it’s a friend, family member or acquaintance. We have all seen the debilitating effect that mental illness can have not just on the ill, but on the people around them.

You can help us fight bipolar disorder as we raise donations for our groundbreaking research projects during the month of May, national mental health month. Federal funding for mental illness research is at an all-time low, and we depend on donations from private individuals like you.

***All donations will be matched by the World Heritage Foundation — Prechter Family Fund, and every dollar raised will make a profound difference.***
