Emma Share, MSW, MPH

Clinical Social Worker

Biography

After graduating from the UM Social Work and Public Health dual degree program I trained as a Postgraduate Social Work Fellow at Michigan Medicine in Child/Adolescent Ambulatory Psychiatry. I joined the team as a staff Social Worker in January 2023. My previous professional experience includes working at several youth-serving non-profit agencies and leading a project at the Washtenaw County Health Department as part of a youth mental health campaign. I have pursued additional post-graduate training in Family Systems Psychotherapy through the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, and through the Parent Hope Project organization.

Areas of Interest

My clinical work focuses on working with the parents of children and teens presenting with mental health and/or behavioral symptoms across a wide range of ages and diagnostic categories. I practice a parent-only therapy approach based in Bowen Family Systems theory. I also completed training in the first manualized parenting model that is based on Family Systems principles called the Parent Hope Project, developed by Dr. Jenny Brown in Sydney, Australia. The Parent Hope approach aims to build parent agency and self-efficacy, to shift the focus from changing the child to changing one's own part of interaction cycles and to help parents become a more calm and confident leader in the family.
