Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Community Psychiatrist, Health Equity Consultant and Coach
Dr. Kimberly Gordon-Achebe is a nationally renowned thought leader in mental health and social justice. She specializes in community, child and adolescent, and adult psychiatry as the Medical Director of iMIND Behavioral Health, Mobile Response, and Stabilization Services.
A graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana and Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Gordon-Achebe completed her psychiatry residency and child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Tulane. She serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at her alma mater and was previously the Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Driven by her passion for mental health equity, Dr. Gordon-Achebe is the CEO & Founder of BHETC, LLC, a health equity consulting firm supporting initiatives for women, children, adolescents, and families. Her expertise spans public/community psychiatry, medical education, school-based mental health, juvenile justice, mobile crisis response and stabilization, coordinated systems of care for community and home based care for children and adolescents, psychiatric residential treatment, trauma-informed care, social justice, diversity, health equity, inclusion and mindset coaching.
Dr. Gordon-Achebe has authored several peer-reviewed publications on discrimination's impact on health disparities. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, serving on the Board of the American Association for Community Psychiatry and co-chairing the National Council for Mental Wellbeing's Child Committee. Her achievements include the APA's Jeanne Spurlock, M.D. Minority Fellowship Program Achievement Award.
