Sarah Rollins, LMSW, featured on podcast Being UnNormal

Topic: "Being An Addiction Specialist"

Sarah Rollins, LMSW

Kimberly Berry, founder of the website "Being UnNormal," recently interviewed one of our social workers, Sarah Rollins, LMSW, for a podcast on "Being An Addiction Specialist."

"In this episode we talk to Sarah Rollins from the University of Michigan Addiction Treatment Services to break down addiction, substance abuse disorder, and how the pandemic has affected addiction and substance use rates. We chat about red flags, relapse, how addiction affects the brain, myths and misconceptions about addiction, length of recovery, and treatment options.

Sarah talks about how our value systems affect our addiction cycle, and how the use of substances compromises those values in ways that cause us distress.

We also talk about the barriers to long term care, access to treatment challenges, and the how to give yourself grace if you are struggling with addiction."

You can listen to the podcast here.

The Being Unnormal website also features many other podcasts around different topics of mental health.
