The Wrap tackles misperceptions, stigma around eating disorders

Two experts from the Michigan Medicine Comprehensive Eating Disorders Program joined the show to provide insight and tips about managing eating disorders:

Jessica Van Huysse, Ph.D., Clinical Director for the Children’s Eating Disorder Program

Natalie Prohaska, M.D., Medical Director for the Children’s Eating Disorder Program

About the program

The Comprehensive Eating Disorders Program provides individualized, compassionate, evidence-based care for patients aged 8-22 with eating disorders. Its interdisciplinary services are provided by adolescent medicine physicians, child and adolescent psychiatry and psychology, clinical social workers, dietetics and an educational specialist.

The treatment options are varied, including partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient treatment. When higher levels of care are needed, such as a medical or psychiatric admission, the program collaborates closely with the inpatient medical and/or child and adolescent psychiatric unit to facilitate admissions.
