Faculty and staff donated more than 780 poinsettia plants during the third annual Poinsettias for Patients sale last month.
“We are so grateful to everyone who supported this program,” said Sheri Chisholm, who works with the Office of Patient Experience, Junior League of Ann Arbor and Turner Nursery to coordinate the sale and distribution of the plants.
On Dec. 21, Chisholm, staff from the Office of Patient Experience and a team of volunteers helped members of care teams across the hospitals deliver holiday smiles to their patients just in time for the holidays.
“The plants were especially meaningful this year,” Chisholm said. “Patients unable to have visitors due to COVID-19 restrictions received the message that they are special and that they were remembered during the holidays.”
In addition to spreading holiday cheer, the poinsettia sale raises funds to provide amenities and comfort items for patients and families throughout the year, creating benefits that last far beyond the holidays.
“This program is a wonderful way to bring faculty and staff together as a unified team to show patients how much they mean to us,” said Molly Dwyer-White, M.P.H., administrative director for the Office of Patient Experience.
