Emily was in third grade when she and her parents moved to Japan. In March, 2011, she lived through the devastating earthquake and Fukushima nuclear plant disaster. The lessons she learned from that tragedy - how to deal with set-backs and come together as a community - helped her process and live with resiliency after being diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
