Andrea Pesch joined the Speers’ lab through the Program in Biomedical Sciences (PIBS) as a Bernard Maas Fellow and is currently a third year Pharmacology PhD candidate and a Pharmacological Sciences Training Program (PSTP) trainee. Andrea graduated with highest distinction from the University of Michigan in 2017 where she received a B.S. in Biochemistry and the Chemistry department's Seyhan N. Ege Women in Science and Engineering award. Andrea worked as an undergraduate research technician in Dr. James Rae's lab, but was also able to take part in the summer undergraduate research fellowship (SURF) at the Mayo Clinic and the Pediatric Oncology Education (POE) research program at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As a graduate student, Andrea aims to understand resistance mechanisms to therapies used for estrogen receptor positive (ER+) breast cancer. Outside of lab, Andrea enjoys cooking and exploring Ann Arbor.
