Requirement

On the first day of the rotation, YOU MUST contact Dr. Lobo, at pager:21739.

Clinical Activities

Daily clinical activity in Neuroradiology is carried out in multiple areas. During this elective, your attendance is required in these areas for the entire day. Your rotation through these areas will be your responsibility. You must verify your daily attendance on your attendance sheet by obtaining the signature of the neuroradiology faculty or fellow. Weekend and call responsibilities are possible, depending on your rotation.

  1. Neuroradiology CT Reading Room (B2B315). In this area, CT studies of the brain, head and neck, orbits and spine are interpreted. Review with the neuroradiology fellow and residents begin about 8:15 AM on weekdays. Review with the neuroradiology faculty begins about 8:30-9:00 AM. Please introduce yourself to the neuroradiology residents, fellow and faculty so that you will be included in the day’s activities.
  2. Neuroradiology MR Reading Room (B2B315). In this area, MR studies of the brain, head and neck, spine, advanced imaging and brachial/LS plexus are interpreted. Review with the neuroradiology fellow and residents begin about 8:15 AM on weekdays. Review with the neuroradiology faculty begins about 8:30-9:00 AM. Please introduce yourself to the neuroradiology residents, fellow and faculty so that you will be included in the day’s activities.
  3. Neuroradiology Special Procedures (B1F460). In this area, myelograms, post-myelographic CT, cerebral angiography and interventional neuroradiology procedures are performed and interpreted. The studies begin at about 8:00 AM, and you are expected there at that time. A neuroradiology fellow and/or resident, with neuroradiology faculty, will be in charge of doing the procedures. Please introduce yourself to these personnel so that you will be included in the day’s activities.
  4. Radiology at East Ann Arbor Health Center (1847H). In this area, CT and MR studies of the brain, head and neck, orbits and spine are interpreted. Review with the neuroradiology fellow or residents begin about 8:15 AM on weekdays. Review with the neuroradiology faculty begins about 8:30-9:00 AM. Please introduce yourself to the neuroradiology residents, fellow and faculty so that you will be included in the day’s activities.
  5. Neuroradiology at CS Mott Children’s Hospital (3-513). This is situated on third floor of CS Mott Hospital within the department of radiology. In this area, CT and MR studies of the brain, head and neck, orbits and spine for pediatric patients are interpreted. Review with the neuroradiology fellow or residents begin about 8:15 AM on weekdays. Review with the neuroradiology faculty begins about 8:30-9:00 AM. Please introduce yourself to the neuroradiology residents, fellow and faculty so that you will be included in the day’s activities.

During your elective on Neuroradiology, attendance at the Wednesday noon Neuroradiology Fellows Conference (B2 MRI Library B2A209L) is required. Attendance at the other below-listed conferences is encouraged. At least try each conference once.

These conferences are all subject to change in time, date, and location. You will be provided with the monthly Neuroradiology Conference Schedule with the latest information. You will also be provided with the monthly Neuroradiology Call and Work Schedule.

Book

Textbooks will be recommended to you, and/or loaned to you, by Dr. Lobo.

Evaluation

You will be evaluated on your performance. You must keep the 1700/1800 attendance form, and a daily case list. Your case list must be given directly to Dr. Lobo before you leave the rotation. To earn a high pass or honors grade, an extra-credit project is required. If you would like to prepare such an extra-credit project, please discuss this with Dr. Lobo during your first week of rotation.

Absences

All absences from the rotation must be approved by Dr. Lobo. Any excused absences in excess of the Medical School guidelines must be made up by attending Saturday and/or Sunday read-outs with the neuroradiology diagnostic call team. These read-out sessions typically run from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
