Women Who Conquer Cancer Mentorship Award

Conquer Cancer Foundation proudly joins ASCO to recognize the winners of ASCO's Special Awards, the Society's highest honors, and Conquer Cancer's Women Who Conquer Cancer Mentorship Awards. The recipients of these awards include researchers, patient advocates, and global oncology leaders who have worked to transform cancer care around the world. ASCO will recognize this year's awardees, which include a world-renowned breast cancer researcher and a senior leader at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), at its Annual Meeting in June.

Women Who Conquer Cancer Mentorship Awards

First presented in 2016 by Conquer Cancer, the Women Who Conquer Cancer Mentorship Awards honor extraordinary female leaders in oncology who have both excelled as mentors and demonstrated outstanding commitment to the professional development of women colleagues as clinicians, educators, and researchers in oncology (Hologic, Inc Endowed Women Who Conquer Cancer Mentorship Award)

Lori J. Pierce, MD, FASTRO, FASCO, is a Professor with tenure of Radiation Oncology and Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. Her research focuses on the use of radiotherapy in the multi-modality treatment of breast cancer with emphasis on cardiac-sparing in treatment planning, pre-clinical and clinical studies of radiation sensitizers with RT, and outcomes following radiation in women with breast cancer who carry a BRCA1/2 susceptibility gene. Dr. Pierce was an ASCO Board of Directors member from 2010 to 2014. She is currently Chair of the Conquer Cancer Foundation Nominating Committee and Past Chair of the ASCO Leadership Development Program.
