Dr. Kashani received her PhD from the University of Michigan in 2009 investigating uncertainties in geometric models of patients for adaptive radiotherapy. She completed her medical physics residency training at Washington University in St. Louis, where she joined the faculty and led the stereotactic radiotherapy program for five years. During this time, she implemented planning and delivery techniques for new applications of SBRT, such as noninvasive cardiac radioablation for ventricular tachycardia, and single fraction partial breast irradiation. In 2014, she helped implement the first clinical MR-guided radiotherapy system at Washington University. Using this technology, she led the development of an online adaptive radiotherapy program, allowing for plan modifications based on daily MR images with the patient on the table. Dr. Kashani returned to the University of Michigan in 2017 where she continues her research on uncertainties in patient geometry for adaptive radiotherapy applications.
