Dr. Shyam Nyati has a long-standing interest in the development and application of molecular imaging to provide new insights into oncological signaling using live cells and mouse models. Signaling activities such as phosphorylation, proteolytic cleavage and ubiquitination impinge on the transformed phenotype. He has developed molecular imaging tools to monitor these regulatory events over the last few years and used them in high-throughput screens, yielding new insights. Currently Dr. Nyati is deciphering the molecular mechanism of radiation sensitivity by MELK kinase and DNA repair pathways.
