Membership Benefits
UM-SBDRC membership supports access to:
- Animal Modeling Core resources supporting development and use of state-of-the-art mouse models for those interested in pursuing skin-related studies in mice.
- Functional Analytics Core resources offering systems biology analyses, disease- and cytokine-specific gene expression profiling, as well as CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing services in keratinocytes for generation of both knock-out and knock-in keratinocytes.
- Administrative Core resources including funding opportunities for new and established skin investigators; scientific enrichment opportunities (.e.g., annual symposia, quarterly speaker series and more); as well as education, mentoring, and training to support early career skin researchers.
Types of UM-SBDRC Membership:
Full Members:
UM faculty and PIs with research focus and interest in cutaneous biology and/or disease, who are engaged in collaborative, pilot, or exploratory studies in this area.
Clinical Associate Members:
Clinical faculty who participate in skin-related research as co-investigators. Collaboration with basic or translational researchers is essential for translation of basic and preclinical research and to promote communication between basic scientists and clinicians.
Affiliated Members:
Faculty from other institutions (non-UM), who are engaged in funded research projects and have a well-defined interest in cutaneous biology and/or disease.
Become a Member
To apply for membership to the UM-SBDRC, please email your CV or biosketch to Carmel McKeon at [email protected].
Membership Responsibilities & Guidelines:
UM-SBDRC Members must:
- exhibit responsible conduct of research
- abide by all institutional regulations, including the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee.
- follow Institutional Review Board regulations, and
- obtain appropriate permissions for all research with animals, human subjects, and biohazardous agents before such projects are initiated.
