Biography

Ana was a National Clinician Scholar during her two-year academic development time. Her research focused on the surgical care of older adults Dr. Pasithorn Suwanabol and Dr. Scott Regenbogen and decision-making of patients and surgeons with Dr. Lillias Maguire and Dr. Arden Morris. For her research, Ana was awarded a Frederick A. Coller Research Fellowship as well as the Society for Medical Decision Making's Lee B. Lusted Student Prize for Decision Psychology and Shared Decision Making. Along with Dr. Joceline Vu (Class of 2021), Ana won Surgical Jeopardy at the Academic Surgical Congress.

Outside of research, Ana was on the planning committee for the 2019 Michigan Women's Surgical Collaborative, led the 2019-2020 Residents as Leaders curriculum, and developed a Coaching Skills Workshop with Dr. Lillias Maguire, Dr. Lesly Dossett and Janet Dombrowski as part of the department's Leadership Development Program. Ana will serve as Administrative Chief Resident alongside Dr. Ton Wang for the academic year 2021-2022.
