Dr. Elizabeth Hatfield received her Bachelor of Sciences from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2011. Following that, she received her Masters of Sciences from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2012. She continued her education at the University of Michigan, graduating with her DDS (Doctorate of Dental Surgery) in 2017. At commencement, she received the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award and American Association of Oral Biologists Award. During dental school she co-founded the Special Care Dentistry Association in an effort to address barriers that currently exist for this population. Dr. Hatfield has many research interests. Her most recent research focused on regeneration of dental pulp stem cells in mature teeth. The project aims to evaluate safety parameters of isolated dental pulp stem cells for clinical application. For this, she was awarded third place in basic science research at the UMSOD Research Day and was invited to attend the Hinman Student Research Symposium.
