Dr. Glenn Wakam is a son of two immigrant parents from Cameroon, West Africa. He was born in Detroit but grew up in southern California. He attended Princeton University for his undergraduate degree. Dr. Wakam then attended University of California San Francisco, graduating in the AOA honor society before coming to the University of Michigan for General Surgery residency. He is currently a PGY-5 spending two years of dedicated research studying traumatic injuries and transplant outcomes. He has been an ardent supporter of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, helping create an institution wide dinner series for minority members. Dr. Wakam also serves on various committees with the goal of recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce.
