Biography

Dr. Whitney Fu is a general surgery resident at Michigan Medicine. Prior to attending medical school at Yale School of Medicine, she completed an Americorps Year of Service working at a nonprofit in NYC that worked to expand access to sports and education after-school and summer programs for girls in under-resourced communities. Her interest in public service continued throughout medical school, where she worked in the City of New Haven's community services administration developing policies to pursue equity in public health, education, and housing. She hopes to become a pediatric surgeon. Her research interests include global surgery, immunology, and medical anthropology.

Whitney serves as a resident ambassador on the Wellness committee. She is also a part of the Culture Crew initiative of the Michigan Promise, and works to address the issues of mental health and illness among surgical residents.
