Biography
After graduating from the 6-year BS/MD program at the University of Michigan, I completed training in Surgery and Urology at Washington University (St. Louis) and the University of Michigan. I did a 6-month fellowship with Carol Bennett and then took over the University of Michigan Andrology Division when Dr. Bennett left in 1988. Over a 30-year career, I have concentrated in clinical care and research in the areas of: infertility following spinal cord injury, ejaculatory dysfunction, assisted reproductive techniques in male infertility, laboratory handling of gametes, oral treatments for erectile dysfunction, genitourinary prostheses and sperm retrieval techniques. I have 150 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. I have a strong collaborative effort with the University of Copenhagen, with combined research, mentoring Danish PhD candidates and the CopMich Collaborative (copmich.com). I have served as a member of the Executive Council of the American Society of Andrology and am past President of Society for the Study of Male Reproduction.
