Endourology

Our Mission is to optimize the treatment and management of urolithiasis and other endourological conditions. We realize this mission by: delivering excellent clinical care, continually refinement of techniques within the OR, pioneering new care delivery models, and innovation in our research laboratories. We disseminate knowledge and develop skills, by providing comprehensive, state of the art education across the spectrum of Endourology.

Today, our Division of Endourology is among the largest in the country — with five urologists who specialize in adult endourology, and another who specializes in pediatric endourology.  Each year, we perform approximately 1,200 ureteroscopic procedures and 200 percutaneous procedures, including the treatment of calculi and the endourologic management of tumors and strictures.

For the highest-quality urinary stone care, excellent surgical treatment is not enough. Ours is a comprehensive kidney stone center; we have great interest and expertise in the metabolic evaluation and treatment for urinary stone prevention. Our Division is proud of our standardized management protocols including pre- and post-operative management of patients undergoing ureteroscopy, percutaneous surgery, and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy.

We also have a very active laparoscopic and robotic surgery program. In 2017 we performed nearly 150 laparoscopic or robotic upper urinary tract procedures such as ureteral reconstruction and pyeloplasty.
