Racial Disparities in Prostate Cancer and Skin Cancer

On April 26, Weiser Center for Prostate Cancer and Michigan Medicine hosted a wonderful Lunch and Learn Community Event at Washtenaw Community College, where health experts and patients gathered to tackle the crucial issue of equitable prostate cancer and skin cancer screening and treatment.

The event featured distinguished providers from the University of Michigan and Trinity Health, who engaged in an informative dialogue about effective prevention and treatment strategies. Attendees had the unique opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from patients willing to share their personal battles with these prevalent cancers. The community came together to learn vital protective measures for themselves and their loved ones, fostering an environment of awareness and support in the fight against cancer.

Thank you to Martina Jerant, her team and Dr. Meidee Goh for their dedicated efforts. A special thanks to our panelists: Randy Vince, MD, MS (access to care), Simpa Salami, MD, MPH (prostate cancer), John Runge, MD (dermatology), Bumsoo Park, MD (family medicine), and Christina Woods, LMSW (survivorship, moderator).
