New Casper Requirement
Beginning with the 2018-19 application cycle, the University of Michigan Medical School requires all MD and MSTP applicants take the CASPer Test (Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics), also known as a Situational Judgment Test. Test dates are available between May 2018 and January 2019. You can sign up for a CASPer account and begin the verification process before May but will need an AMCAS ID number, available as early as May 2, to complete your registration and schedule a test date. AMCAS application opens.
Please note that you will need your AMCAS ID number to complete your CASPer account registration. There is a $10 fee to register for the CASPer Test and an additional $10 for your score to be sent to University of Michigan Medical School.
July
MSTP applications are reviewed from July to December each year.
Due to the highly competitive nature of the MSTP, applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the primary and secondary application as early as feasible.
Once we receive a verified AMCAS application, applicants who have an MCAT score in the 25th percentile or above will automatically be sent the Secondary Application. Those applicants who have a score lower than the 25th percentile may receive a Secondary Application after an initial review.
We recommend taking the CASPer test as soon as you are able to, before or around the time you obtain the link to your Secondary Application.

Competitive applicants receive invitations to interview beginning in August through January.
September

MSTP primary application deadline through AMCAS.

October 15 -
MSTP Secondary Application deadline through the University of Michigan Medical School Office of Admissions.
Please note, in order for a MSTP application to be considered “complete,” the secondary application, CASPer test score and all letters of recommendation must be received.

Second Look Weekend for accepted applicants.
April 30 -
Deadline for accepted applicants to finalize admissions decision. According to AAMC applicant guidelines, you will need to officially accept or decline our offer of admission via your status page by April 30th (or the next business day if that date falls on a weekend).
