University of Michigan Medical School students rank among the lower third of all medical school graduates with an average debt load upon graduation of $145,270 (medical school debt only, Class of 2018).
Our low average debt reflects the Medical School’s commitment to keep tuition increases to a minimum, as well as our high level of scholarship support.

Qualifying for In-State Tuition
U-M’s Office of the Registrar has developed guidelines for qualifying for in-state tuition.
We recommend that if you’re applying for in-state tuition, you submit your application at least three months before the term in which you plan to enroll at U-M.
