Teri A. Grieb, Ph.D., was appointed associate dean for research strategy in the Medical School, effective December 1, 2020. Over the past 10 years, she has played an increasingly crucial role in supporting the school’s biomedical research operations and developing strategic research initiatives.

Grieb’s faculty appointment is in the Department of Anesthesiology as a research assistant professor. She has been senior director for research in the Office of Research since 2010, and managing director of the Michigan Institute for Clinical Health Research (MICHR) from 2010-16.

In her associate dean role, she will provide expanded strategic, tactical and operational leadership of the research enterprise across the academic medical center of the University of Michigan. She is a recognized expert in the application of business and change management principles as they relate to the operations of academic biomedical research, and has had a substantial record of developing tools, infrastructure, and policies that have positively impacted the investigative efforts and competitiveness of our faculty at large.

Grieb received her Ph.D. from the genetics program at George Washington University, and after several positions in the corporate biomedical arena, she joined the University of Michigan in 2006 as an industry research liaison. She has received multiple awards for her service activities across the University of Michigan, recognizing her innovation, productivity, and leadership insight necessary to face the challenges that confront our research enterprise.
