The Blockchain in Medicine Interest Group seeks to educate members on the benefits of blockchain technology as well as its underlying fundamentals.
In this interest group, challenges facing successful blockchain development will be touched upon, including the blockchain trilemma- achievement of decentralized, secure, and scalable networks. We seek to educate on the utility of decentralized applications (dapps), smart contracts, and oracle networks and their current real-world applications, including decentralized finance and non-fungible tokens. The geopolitical implications of blockchain applications as well as the migration towards the development of central bank digital currencies may be discussed. Following this, the group discusses new ways in which smart contracts may be employed in healthcare and evaluate current projects within the healthcare sector of this new digital economy.
