First-Generation Low-Income (FGLI) Medical Student Initiative

The First-Generation Low-Income (FGLI) medical student initiative is to improve the experience of first-generation (defined as students with parents who do not have 4-year degrees) and low income medical students at the University of Michigan Medical School.

We are dedicated to reducing inequalities for students in the Medical School through facilitating mentorship relationships, organizing events that cultivate diversity, sharing funding opportunities, and partnering with the Office of Admissions to increase recruitment and representation. Through these efforts and resources, we hope to elevate students from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine and help provide the necessary support to build a successful medical career.
