The father-daughter team gave Beeler "hands only CPR" for more than 20 minutes before he regained a pulse. As published in the Ann Arbor News:
Skip noted that it was his daughter's first time performing CPR.
"What we did is something anyone can learn. CPR, if started early, is what saves lives," he said. "I'm very proud of her. It was very special that the first life she helped to save as a doctor, we saved together."
Dr. Walton has taught Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification courses (also known as CPR) at the U-M Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) since 2016. These American Heart Association (AHA) courses are open to all physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals both within and outside Michigan Medicine. The Clinical Simulation Center certifies approximately 2,700 people in CPR every year.
