Biography

A native of Southeast Michigan, Andy Berkowski earned a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Stanford University before returning to Detroit to obtain his medical degree at Wayne State University.  He completed a transitional year internship at Henry Ford Hospital and residency in adult neurology at the Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University.  He received fellowship training in sleep medicine at Stanford University.  Dr. Berkowski’s primary clinical and research interests are in restless legs syndrome.  He provides care for patients encompassing the full spectrum of sleep disorders.  He also sees patients in general neurology.

Research interests: Restless legs syndrome, positional therapy for obstructive sleep apnea, overlap of sleep disorders and neurological conditions

Sleep disorders in adults and children: restless legs syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, REM behavior disorder, narcolepsy, circadian rhythm disorders, and excessive daytime sleepiness; general neurology
