Inaugural Adult Palliative Medicine Section Head

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Adam Marks as our Inaugural Adult Palliative Medicine Section Head! 

Dr. Adam Marks is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine within our Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine. Adam obtained his MD and MPH at the University of Wisconsin before coming to the University of Michigan, where he completed a combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency followed by a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. In his 12 years as faculty, he has worked in inpatient, ambulatory, and home-based palliative care. Since 2020 he has served as Program Director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship as well as Co-Director of the Palliative Care Program at Michigan Medicine.   

In addition to working with both the adult and pediatric inpatient palliative care consult services at Michigan Medicine, he serves as a hospice physician for Elara Hospice; Medical Director of Elara Palliative care; and as a Faculty Ethicist within the Clinical Ethics Service. His clinical interests include symptom management at the end of life, clinical ethics, and effective communication around goals of care and advance care planning. He has presented his work both nationally and internationally.
