DLHS partners with other U-M organizations to lead 2024 HPE Day events

A large gathering kicked off 2024 Health Profession Education (HPE) Day activities at the Michigan League in Ann Arbor. The University of Michigan events were organized by the Department of Learning Health Sciences (DLHS) and the Michigan Center for Interprofessional Education (IPE). 

A keynote panel on leveraging IPE to create equitable and inclusive health organizations saw robust discussion, while DLHS faculty and Marguerite S. Roll Professor of Medical Education, Rajesh Mangrulkar, MD presented a status update on HPE. University of Michigan OBGYN and Associate Chief Clinical officer for Health Equity, Okeoma Mmeje, MD, MPD gave remarks on the range of pertinent subjects showcased at the event, which included community connections, health and well-being, and preparing the next generation for changes in medical education.  

The formal program was chaired by Associate Professor and Director of the Medical Education Scholars Program, Caren Stalburg, MD, MA.

More than 50 posters were displayed at the event, which also included a round of lunch lightning talks. 

Other U-M event sponsors were the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning, Community Health Services, the Research Innovation Scholarship Education program and the Healthcare Equity Month program team.
