My primary focal area in global health is Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common cardiac arrhythmia seen by the clinician. AF affects more than 33 million people worldwide, and is also the number one cause of hospitalization for arrhythmias. AF is associated with a doubling of mortality in both sexes and is a major risk factor for stroke.
