Applications are now available for University of Michigan undergraduate students and graduate (including medical and dental) students who are members of socially or economically disadvantaged groups traditionally underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social sciences (Black and African Americans, Hispanic Americans or Latinos, American Indians, Alaskan Natives, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, and low socio-economic groups).
Training awards are available for the purpose of encouraging students to pursue advanced degrees and research careers in the biomedical or behavioral sciences. The program seeks to broaden research efforts and scientific training to encompass international perspectives on problems that deferentially affect poor and ethnic minority children in the US and in developing countries. Students will participate in ongoing research projects related to child health inequalities in Chile, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, or Ghana.
Ten to fifteen positions will be funded to cover 12-week placements during Summer, 2017. Support includes stipend, living expenses, round trip travel to foreign site, and training-related expenses.
