Global engagement and opportunities abroad sessions

The Global Engagement and Education Abroad Office (GEEA) provides programming that brings the global local by engaging international and domestic students and by providing comprehensive education abroad advising and activities. In this newsletter we will provide information on upcoming events and announcements from our office and beyond.

Teaching and Volunteering Abroad

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 7PM-8:30PM, POND ROOM, MICHIGAN UNION
Programs for teaching and volunteering abroad offer a vast range of opportunities in fields such as health, social work, natural resources and teaching English. Positions are available for undergraduate and graduate/professional students, as well as for those about to graduate. Representatives from the following organizations will be represented: CIEE, API, Cross Cultural Solutions, World Endeavors, Peace Corps.
This event is part of the International Career Pathways Series.

Global Health and Development Careers

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 5PM-7PM, KUENZEL RM, UNION
Global health offers a range of career possibilities, from academia, to the non-profit, governmental, and for-profit sectors. Come hear about some career opportunities and learn how to better prepare for the global health careers of the future. This event is part of the International Career Pathways Series.

Peace Corps Application Workshop

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 6PM-7:30PM, INTERNATIONAL CENTER
Interested in serving in the Peace Corps? Need help with your application? Put your best foot forward! Come out to the Application Workshop and we’ll help you work through the ins and outs of the application.

International Opportunities Fair

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2PM-6PM, MICHGAN UNION, 2ND FLOOR
Start your journey to working around the world at the International Opportunities Fair! This Fair is a great way to connect with organizations with an international focus right here on campus! Fifty+ organizations and more than 400 students are expected to participate in the event. This event is part of the International Career Pathways Series. The Fair includes:

  • Internships/Short-term Work Abroad Programs/Organizations
  • Study-Internship Programs/Organizations
  • Volunteer/Teaching Abroad Programs/Organizations
  • Graduate School Programs
  • Organizations with full-time positions (eg: government organizations with international focus)

Peer-to-Peer Chat for Students

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 3:00PM-4:00PM, INTERNATIONAL CENTER. Join us for an opportunity to build relationships, explore resources on campus, and share any challenges you experience academically and socially with your peers.

Funding a Non-UM International Internship or Service Program
