Each July (winter in the southern hemisphere), the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) hosts medical students from around the world to learn for two weeks at Brazil’s preeminent medical and research university. Global REACH offers $1,000 grants to offset costs for UMMS students selected into the Winter Schools. The grant covers the full program administrative fee for US-based participants.
March 30 is the deadline to apply is for the upcoming session, which takes place July 15-26, 2024.
Winter Schools offers ten distinct tracks in a variety of disciplines, from cardiology and dermatology to trauma surgery and tropical diseases. In addition to the educational programming, participants spend time observing in the FMUSP-affiliated Hospital das Clínicas, the largest healthcare complex in Latin America, and have the opportunity to network and engage with peers from around the globe.
As a longtime FMUSP partner school, UMMS students have been selected to participate every year. Learn more and apply for funding here on our Student Funding page.
