UM research making a difference in Reproductive Medicine

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Researchers at the University of Michigan are continually working to make advances in the field of reproductive science. Here is one example of research on in vitro fertilization.

Gently rocking embryos while they grow during in vitro fertilization (IVF) improves pregnancy rates in mice by 22 percent, new University of Michigan research shows. The procedure could one day lead to significantly higher IVF success rates in humans.

Stem Cell Research

The university of Michigan ART laboratory does facilitate donation of embryos for use in stem cell research if desired by the patient. The University has an active stem cell research program aimed at generating new stem cell lines, focusing on disease specific lines that may lead to new therapeutic treatments. http://www.stemcellresearch.umich.edu/.
