Directed by Eva L. Feldman, M.D., Ph.D., the ALS Center of Excellence at Michigan Medicine has two prongs - patient care and scientific research - that work together to improve the understanding and treatment of ALS. The Center's basic science research is under the umbrella of the NeuroNetwork for Emerging Therapies.
A world leader in the fight against ALS, our ALS Center of Excellence features a combination of renowned researchers, unrivaled facilities, and a fully equipped and dedicated clinic team . Our researchers are working across disciplines to understand the causes of ALS, to develop faster diagnoses that improve patient care, and to create novel therapies that bring hope to persons with ALS and their families.
The Pranger ALS Clinic provides exceptional care for ALS patients and their families and has been an ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence for more than 25 years. Our dedicated team members excel in lengthening and improving quality of life, managing ALS symptoms, maximizing independence, and providing counseling and other services to ALS patients.
Our determination to diagnose and treat such a difficult disease combines with an equally unwavering commitment to solving the complex scientific challenges that come with understanding its causes. Our culture of teamwork, compassionate care, innovation, and integrity produce the critical answers families and individuals need most.
We can do more. We live in a time of tremendous possibility. Scientific discovery is advancing at a pace never before seen. As scientists unravel the human genome and continue to improve our understanding of disease mechanisms and the central nervous system, opportunities for curing devastating neurological disorders such as ALS are real and attainable.
