New Research: Diabetes & The Mind

A lot is known about the micro and macrovascular complications of diabetes, but not much research has been done to understand if it also causes neuropsychological conditions—mental health disorders, cognitive disorders, chronic pain, addiction, and sleep disorders.  New research by Reynolds et al, published in Frontiers in Endocrinology, does just that and should greatly improve care for those suffering from diabetes.

A lot is known about the micro and macrovascular complications of diabetes, but in the past, not much study has been done on neuropsychological complications (mental health disorders, cognitive disorders, chronic pain, addiction, and sleep disorders).  Evan Reynolds, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow at the NeuroNetwork for Emerging Therapies, shares new research that was published in Frontiers in Endocrinology that does just that.
