October 8, 2016- Overview of Pain Medication Take Back Event

Our 4th Take-Back Event was over-the-top

With a great group of volunteers, including Sergeant Thomas Hickey and Officer Renee Bondy from the Ann Arbor Police Department, 192 community members returned unused and unwanted medications from their homes. While the primary goal was to bring awareness of the opioid epidemic to our community, we also collected a huge number of pills (118 pounds of pills!)  The more than 5000 pills/patches of opioids were the equivalent of >185,000 mg oral morphine equivalents. Once again the Ann Arbor Police and the Division of Pain Research combined efforts and it was our largest event to date.  While this event may have been the the largest event to date, we consider all four of our events to be successful thanks to the participating community of Washtenaw County.

If you were not available to attend our take-back event, please use this link to view a listing of daily drop off locations within Washtenaw County.  We host two take-back events throughout the year and our next event will be in the spring, 2017.
