Meet Our Doctors

Our doctors are all full-time faculty at the University of Michigan, where they are active in the study, research, and advancement of facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Their work is published in numerous medical journals and books and they are routinely invited to lecture nationally and internationally on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.


Dr. Michael Brenner

Michael J. Brenner, M.D., FACS

Dr. Brenner has a patient-centered approach to care, personalizing treatment so that it is customized to your needs. He places a premium on patient safety and quality and achieves a youthful, natural appearance.

 

Dr. Brenner began his practice in 2008 and was recruited to University of Michigan in 2013. He completed residency at Washington University in Saint Louis and fellowship at University of Minnesota.

 

Dr. Brenner is an expert in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He specializes in skin cancer reconstruction, facelift surgery, eyelid lifts and correction of facial paralysis. He has a special interest in nasal reshaping surgery to improve nasal appearance or breathing, and he is editor of the book, Rhinoplasty.

Jeffrey Gu, M.D., M.S.

Dr. Jeffrey Gu is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Michigan.

 

Dr. Gu's clinical expertise spans both reconstructive and cosmetic interventions for the face. These include the management of facial paralysis and synkinesis, rhinoplasty, reconstruction of facial defects following skin cancer removal (Mohs surgery), aesthetic procedures for the aging face, scar revision, benign and malignant facial skin lesion removal, and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures (injectable fillers, neurotoxins, and skin resurfacing). He is trained in the full spectrum of facial plastic surgery and treats patients of all ages. He is also a member of the Multidisciplinary Facial Nerve team at Michigan Medicine.

 

Author of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Gu's research focuses on improving outcomes in the management of facial paralysis, rhinoplasty, and other procedures performed in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Jeffrey S. Moyer, M.D., FACS

Dedicated to providing the ideal patient care experience, Dr. Moyer’s perfectionist personality pushes him to achieve his patients’ best possible results.

 

Dr. Moyer has been at the University of Michigan since 1997. He is the current director of the Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery and the chief of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

 

Dr. Moyer is an expert in facial cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery for head and neck cancer. He has a particular interest in complicated nasal reconstruction.

Shannon Rudy, M.D.

Dr. Rudy earned her medical degree with highest honors and distinction in research in 2014 from the University of Michigan School of Medicine. She completed a five-year otolaryngology residency at Stanford University and then returned to the University of Michigan where she completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

 

Dr. Rudy is an active member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Chaz L. Stucken, M.D.

Dr. Stucken is committed to providing the highest level of personalized care to his patients. He believes that every patient deserves a treatment plan that is specific to their needs in order to achieve their personal best.

 

Dr. Stucken has been at the University of Michigan since 2015 after completing his surgical training. He is dual specialized in the treatment of skin cancers and in facial plastic & reconstructive surgery.

 

Dr. Stucken is an expert in facial cosmetic surgery, laser rejuvenation, scar treatments, and major head and neck reconstruction. He is on numerous national committees and teaches other surgeons at national and international conferences on subspecialized topics. He also goes on medical mission trips to perform cleft lip and cleft palate surgery for underserved patients internationally.
