Research Interests
The regulation of mRNA translation into proteins is essential across all kingdoms of life, with translation initiation standing out as a crucial regulatory step. My research involves employing cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and biochemical approaches to investigate how RNA helicases regulate translation of eukaryotic mRNAs.
As an early career faculty and Black scientist, I am committed to establishing a laboratory that upholds the values of diversity and inclusion. I firmly believe that a team composed of diverse individuals is indispensable for achieving excellence in science. Consequently, I endeavor to cultivate an environment that inspires our community to acknowledge and promote diversity and inclusion.
