DEI Statement

I feel strongly that DEI work should be integrated into every aspect of my professional life, allowing research and educational programs the benefit of diverse viewpoints and skill sets. I strive to establish an environment where trainees feel comfortable sharing their viewpoints on both science and life, recognizing that events weigh on trainees differently based on their lived experiences. I strive to bring all of myself into this role and encourage those around me to do the same.

Research Interest

We explore how cells exploit the unique mixing of lipids and proteins within the plasma membrane to interpret environmental cues. Our experimental approach is rooted in a thermodynamic understanding of liquid-liquid phase separation within complex membranes. We apply and develop quantitative measures of membrane heterogeneity and protein function in living cells and model systems.
