Autumn Walkerly, PharmD

PGY-2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Resident

Biography

Hometown: Cleveland, OH

Pharmacy School: Northeast Ohio Medical University

PGY-1 (if current PGY-2): Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital

Why did you choose Michigan's residency program? One major reason was definitely my RPD. I remember being at the 2018 CPNP Meeting and listening to Amy talk about her program. She seemed so down to earth and like a fun person to learn from and that impression still holds true. With my interest in academia, I was excited about the opportunities afforded at Michigan for teaching, research, and professional development.  Most of all though, the people here truly want to support you in your training and care about your well-being. Nothing more you could ask for!

Research Topic: Free fraction serum valproic acid concentrations: association with clinical response and toxicities

Writing Topic: Deciphering the differences between long-acting injectable aripiprazole formulations

Hobbies outside of pharmacy: Live music, seeing musicals (love the Book of Mormon), spending days out on the lake, doing anything with my mini-aussiedoodle Carol, learning how to cook and when I don't feel like doing that, trying new restaurants in AA

Favorite Book: Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi

Favorite Movie: Frozen 2

Favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor: HOMES Brewery. They have great beer and the bulgogi fries (add kimchi) are *chef's kiss*

Advice for future residents: Don't be afraid to try. This is the time to push yourself, identify your shortcomings, and get feedback from your preceptors on how to provide the best patient care. Appreciate every piece of constructive feedback and turn it into an opportunity to grow.
