Sonya Anderson, PharmD

PGY-1 Health-System Pharmacy Resident

Hometown: Naperville, Illinois

Pharmacy School: UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy

Why did you choose Michigan's residency program? The reason I chose Michigan was because I wanted to train at a large academic medical center where I would have the opportunity to rotate through a number of specialty areas. Additionally, I knew that I would have access to a number of dedicated preceptors, quality research and writing projects, as well as teaching experiences. I believed that all the above would help shape me into a well-rounded pharmacist.

Research Topic: Correlation of stewardship tools and rates of antifungal prescribing in ICUs utilizing CDC NHSN data

Writing Topic: Diabetic considerations in the post-transplant patient

Hobbies outside of pharmacy: Arts & crafts, baking, hiking with my dog, and playing video games

Favorite Book: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Favorite Movie: Princess Mononoke

Favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor: Hopcat, with 100 craft brews on tap and great fries, you can't go wrong

Favorite part about doing residency at Michigan Medicine: The large class size at Michigan has been one of my favorite parts of residency so far. Coming from out of state it is great to have a family of co-residents who support you.
