Unlike at many other facilities, at the CDLC we have several different lasers that are particularly effective at treating specific colors of tattoo ink. Laser Removal of Tattoos (Q-Switched and Picosecond Lasers)
Q-switched and picosecond lasers are devices that help remove tattoos by providing high energy light of wavelengths that are strongly absorbed by ink of various colors. At the CDLC, we are fortunate to have multiple state-of-the-art lasers that each work best for specific ink colors. The tailored treatment approach that we are able to provide to our patients allows for the most efficient removal of tattoo ink in as few treatment sessions as possible. During treatment, laser energy is passed over the tattoo, specifically targeting and microscopically "shattering" the tattoo ink, dispersing it in the skin to be carried away by the body's white blood cells. Our staff will work to keep you comfortable during each treatment and will instruct you on how to care for the treated skin as it heals. The number of laser sessions required to achieve maximal benefits varies widely from patient to patient, but for most tattoos, we are able to achieve substantial or complete lightening over a series of treatments.
