Biography

Dr. Michael Brenner received his medical degree from the Northwestern University Medical School (2000). He completed his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Washington University-Saint Louis (2007) and a fellowship in facial plastic surgery at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine (2008). Today Dr. Michael Brenner is a clinician-scientist with a 75% appointment with the Kresge Hearing Research Institute and a 25% with the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery/Skull base Surgery in the U-M Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

 

Areas of Interest

Dr. Michael Brenner's research interests include: elucidating mechanisms of oxidative stress injury, cochlear reactive oxygen species formation, and free radical mediated apoptosis and injury in the ear; neuropharmacology; ototoxicity and otoprotection and molecular targets for auditory hair cell protection. Dr. Brenner also has interests in the translational research study of nerve regeneration, nerve reconstruction, axonal guidance, nerve transfer, senescence and tissue engineered constructs.
