Areas of Interest

My focus is directed toward investigating the pathology of malfunctioning inhibitory cortical circuits associated with mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. To examine and isolate specific GABA-ergic interneuron subtypes in postmortem brain, I utilize gene expression analyses as well as implement neuroanatomical techniques including fluorescent in situ hybridization, brain transparency methods (e.g., CLARITY, iDISCO), and lightsheet microscopy.
