Deon is taking over Cindy Vance’s financial and grant responsibilities as she retired at the end of March. Deon comes to MNI with a wealth of experience in University business practices.
A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Deon earned a B.B.A. in Supply Chain Management and launched his career at the University of Michigan as an intern in Procurement and later joined the Department of Cell & Developmental Biology (CDB) handling purchasing. He spent seven years at CDB as a purchaser and was also responsible for various research administration duties during that time.
Deon is currently pursuing an MBA in Finance at U-M Dearborn and expects to graduate this summer. He was born and raised in Detroit and currently lives in the downriver area with his wife Tracy and their newborn daughter Esperanza. In his spare time, Deon likes to spend time with his family, go to concerts, and travel to warm places. He’s a big athletic shoe fanatic, owning over 50 pairs of sneakers.
