Elena joined the Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Program in September 2017 having recently graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. She has extensive research experience studying cognition, distraction, memory, and attention and has a special interest in sexual and gender minority health, at-risk LGBTQ+ youth, and community based research. She currently works as a Research Technician Associate in the Prechter Longitudinal Study, administering neuropsychological testing batteries to patients with bipolar disorder, managing student volunteers, scoring tests, and performing data entry and independent data analysis. Outside of the lab, Elena has been a D1 varsity athlete, world traveler, social and animal rights activist, and certified yoga instructor. In the future she plans to attend graduate school to pursue a career in social psychology.
